As MedCruise approaches its 30th anniversary in 2026, the Association continues to stand as a vital platform for cooperation, dialogue and progress among Mediterranean and adjoining seas’ cruise ports. Founded on the principle of unity in diversity, MedCruise today connects more than 160 ports and 59 associate members across 22 countries, reflecting the cultural, economic and geographical richness of the region.
One of MedCruise’s strategic priorities is fostering international cooperation with fellow organisations such as Cruise Europe, Cruise Britain, Cruise Norway and Cruise Baltic as well as with global industry partners like CLIA, ESPO and AIVP. By deepening these ties we strengthen our collective voice in policy discussions, environmental initiatives and tourism development. The Mediterranean is part of a global network and collaboration across regions helps us share best practices, coordinate sustainability goals and anticipate new market trends.
At the same time MedCruise remains committed to the Port–City relationship, the cornerstone of sustainable cruise development. Working closely with AIVP, the worldwide network of port cities, MedCruise promotes dialogue between port authorities, municipalities, local businesses and citizens. Together we aim to ensure that cruise activity benefits passengers, operators and the communities that welcome them. Initiatives on destination management, cultural heritage preservation and urban mobility illustrate how cruise ports can become catalysts for inclusive growth.
Being a sponsor of the International Cruise Summit is particularly important for MedCruise. The event gathers key players from across the global cruise industry and provides a valuable opportunity to exchange views, strengthen relationships and present the perspectives of Mediterranean ports in major discussions about the sector’s future. By supporting the Summit, MedCruise reaffirms its role as a connector between ports, cruise lines, institutions and tourism stakeholders, promoting collaboration and a shared vision for responsible and sustainable growth. Our sponsorship reflects the Association’s commitment to contributing to open dialogue, innovation and knowledge exchange in all international forums where the cruise industry shapes its path forward.
As we prepare for the milestone of “30 Years of MedCruise”, the Association is reflecting on the lessons learned through three decades of evolving challenges and opportunities. From the first wave of cruise expansion in the 1990s to today’s era of digitalisation and decarbonisation, MedCruise has been a constant advocate for its members, ensuring that ports of all sizes have a voice in shaping the future of the cruise industry.
The road ahead is defined by transformation: alternative fuels, shore power, circular economy initiatives and new forms of collaboration that will redefine the cruise experience. MedCruise’s vision is clear, to support our members in becoming smart, green and people-centred ports ready to lead the cruise sector towards a more resilient and responsible future.
With an eye on 2026, MedCruise will celebrate not only its history but its evolving mission, connecting people, ideas and regions to ensure that the Mediterranean remains the world’s most inspiring and welcoming cruise destination.
