Detlev Schäferjohann (born December 6, 1972) is a German entrepreneur and executive with more than two decades of experience in the tourism and technology sectors. He is co‑founder and Chief Executive Officer of e‑hoi Group, a leading online cruise and travel operator in Europe.
Since founding the company in 2000, Detlev has played a key role in digitalizing the travel industry — first through e‑domizil (a European vacation rental portal with over €200 million in revenue) and later with e‑hoi (cruises) — helping to make the company a market leader in Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and Portugal.
Under his leadership, the group grew to nearly 400 employees. In 2022, he successfully sold the vacation rental segment to HomeToGo AG. Previously, Detlev worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company, focusing on corporate finance and strategy for banks and asset managers, and began his career at Price Waterhouse as an audit associate.
He holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Applied Sciences of the Deutsche Bundesbank in Hachenburg. He is married and the father of three children.
With the exception of the COVID years (2020 to 2022), the group posted double‑digit growth rates in turnover in every year of its existence. After several complementary acquisitions in the Netherlands and Switzerland in 2024, Detlev acquired UN MUNDO DE CRUCEROS, a leading Spanish tour operator specializing in premium and luxury cruises. Employing this buy‑and‑build strategy, Detlev is forming one of the world’s leading digital cruise OTAs (Online Travel Agencies).
In 2025, the Cruise Group will celebrate its 20th anniversary on May 9, 2025 in Frankfurt, the company’s headquarters. More than 300 partners, employees, and friends of the company are invited to jointly commemorate two decades of success, innovation, and commitment to exceptional travel experiences.
