Figen Ayan is passionate about the cruise and luxury travel industries, with more than 30 years of leadership spanning port management, destination development, and maritime innovation. A dual French-Turkish citizen born in Paris and a graduate of La Sorbonne, her career reflects forward-thinking leadership and a commitment to advancing the global maritime and tourism landscapes.

From 2014 to 2024, she served as Chief Port Officer at Galataport Istanbul, where she spearheaded the creation of the world’s first underground cruise terminal—an iconic $1.7bn project that set new benchmarks for the industry. She also served as President of the MedCruise Association (2021–2024), now Honorary President, and contributes as a European Commission Expert to the Mission “Restore Our Ocean and Waters by 2030.”
Today, as Founder of Ayan Consulting, Seatrade Ambassador for Port Innovation & Community Engagement, and Strategic Advisor to Tura and other companies, cruise lines, and governments, Figen guides destinations toward sustainable growth, future-ready port strategies, and community-driven tourism development, bridging global brands with emerging markets.
