Georgios Tsakalis works in the ETIAS Central Unit of the European Border and Coast Guard Agency Frontex, where he is setting up the carrier support channels for the new European border management initiatives, the EES and ETIAS.
The launch of the EES and ETIAS will change the rules of travelling to Europe and affect the work of carriers and international airports and seaports across Europe. Before joining Frontex, Mr Tsakalis served for 11 years in the Greek Police Agency. He worked as head of department at sea border crossing points in Greece focusing on combatting cross-border crime and served in the detective and financial crime departments. Mr Tsakalis holds a Master's degree in Political Science from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
