Kevin O’Sullivan has worked closely withthe New Zealand Cruise industry for nearly 20 years, developing strongrelationships with cruise lines and government agencies.
Formerly SouthlandRegional Harbourmaster, Kevin co-authored the Deed of Agreement between CruiseShips and Environment Southland, which enables each cruise ship to visitFiordland, the premier destination for cruise ships coming to New Zealand,safely and sustainably. He has a wealth of experience in marinescience and the maritime industries, including many years as a fisheriesscientist, establishing New Zealand’s first salmon farms, working in coastalmanagement and oil spill response, as well as planning and implementing riskassessments and Safety Management Systems in pilotage areas. Kevin served as Chair of New Zealand CruiseAssociation for several years until the Board appointed him Chief ExecutiveOfficer in 2016. Through the long hiatusthat Covid brought Kevin continued to advocate strongly and successfully forthe return of cruise at a time when there was considerable opposition frommedia and government. He has lead theNew Zealand delegation to Seatrade Global Miami since 2007, liaising directlywith international friends in sister organisations and cruise lines.
